
Negotiating a payment plan
with your current lender
If you have just started to fall into arrears on
your mortgage but are now in a position to catch up with the arrears
it is a good idea to negotiate a payment plan with your current
lender (Always put your proposal in writing and keep a copy of the
correspondence). The lender will see that you are a responsible
borrower and they should accept your proposition. We would also
advise that you explain why you missed the mortgage payments and
why it should not occur again. Finally send them an income and expenditure
statement, this will demonstrate all your expenses and the total
household income finally showing what amount of disposable income
you have.
